Oh,  the places you'll go with education

"Congratulations! Today is your day. You're off to great places you're off and away!  You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes, you can steer yourself, any direction you choose!"

Favorite Educational Websites
One website I have found very useful and fun for younger, elementary age students is http://www.abcya.com/ .  Since I am gearing towards the elementary age group I look for websites that not only can help educate young students inside and outside of school, but are actually fun for the students too.  In this site the users can access games for grades K-5.  Although my degree will limit my teaching to grade 3, the access to higher level education is great for young students so they can expand their learning.
Secondly, a site I have enjoyed working with is the Wiki.  Putting together a collaborative site for others to view and possibly learn off of is quite extraordinary.   Sometimes students learn better when other students put things into words for them instead of learning from a teacher.  Sometimes teachers can use words that are too large or too complicated for the students and when other students can understand what is going on and explain it in simplified terms, it is a better learning experience.
A final website that I have enjoyed working on is the interactive software available on SmartBoards.  The dice game that can help with basic math skills has been used in many observations that I have been on as well as some of the matching games that can help with vocabulary.  So many options are available on the SmartBoard and some teachers don't realize how useful they can be, especially for the kinetic learners.  Children all learn in different ways so when teachers can use the SmartBoard to bring the kinetic aspect into learning it can really change their outlooks on a topic.
